The participation of two teachers from the college of Medicine, University of Basrah, in Baher Al-Olom Award for Creativity in its fourth session 2022.

 

The two teachers at the Faculty of Medicine / University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Al-Simri, Prof. Dr. Essam Mohammed Al-Shraida, and Dr. Jassim Mohammed Najm Al-Bazouuni from the Basra Health Department, participated in Baher Al-Olom  Award for Creativity in its fourth session in 2022 with their research entitled: Isolation and Characterisation of exogenous toxins produced by streptococcus pyogenes that cause tonsillitis. The research dealt with the diagnosis and isolation of exogenous toxins produced by streptococcus   causing tonsillitis and molecular characterisation of these toxins SpeC, SpeC, SpeB, SpeA, which were carried out using modern techniques in molecular biology. The succession of nitrogen bases on DNA have also been sequenced on DNA thread, and many genetic mutations have been shown that resulted in the registration of new Iraqi genes recorded in the NCBI gene bank.
