The Dean of theCollege  of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Murtadha Mohammed Saleh Al-Musafer, chaired a meeting of the directors of subspecialties  of department of  surgery on Sunday, 5/3/2023, where the meeting was attended by assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Qais Kazem Baqer, as well as Rapporteur of the department of Surgery Assistant Professor Dr. Firas Shaker Al-Attar, where the meeting dealt with the following topics :

1. Paying attention to scientific research, developing plans for joint research, benefitting from the scientific research unit, and encouraging local publications as well as publishing in SCOPUS  containers.

2. Focussing on interactive lecture style by engaging students.

3. Inviting the directors of the teaching divisions to submit proposals for accommodating clinical training according to the increasing numbers of students

4. Preparation of  students of the sixth stage and preparation for the evaluation exam and management of obstacles

5. Discussing ways to develop the Basra Surgical Journal and encouraging surgeons from various universities to publish and exchange citations.
