Board research at Basra University College of Medicine discussed thyroid function in patients with hepatitis C virus. The research presented by student Ammar Alaa Hussein aims to study the relationship between infection with hepatitis C virus and thyroid disorders and the factors that may affect it. The research concluded that thyroid disorders were more prevalent in hepatitis C patients than in the control group and that hypothyroidism was more prevalent in women and in the age group 30-40 years and that the majority of hypothyroidism had autoimmune causes. Assistant Dr. Alaa Khattar Musa and the discussion committee was formed under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi as Chairman, and the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Fateh Abdul-Sahib Al-Khaqani and a consultant doctor, Dr. Bashar Qassem.
