Basrah College of Medicine is organizing a workshop on bone marrow transplantation

 

 

 

Basrah University College of Medicine organized a workshop on bone marrow transplantation in Dr. Sarkis Hall in Al-Sadr Teaching Hospital.  The workshop included various lectures on bone marrow transplantation, types of stem cells, their isolation and their cultivation.  Regarding the workshop, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen, President of Basra University, said that among the university’s strategy to open up to society and provide services to it, the College of Medicine at Basra University held this workshop on stem cells, as medicine has developed in the direction of developing gene therapies, using stem cells and bone marrow transplantation, and we started forming a team.  To be the nucleus of a stem cell production project in cooperation with the Basra Health directorate to treat many diseases such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, joint swelling and some genetic diseases, and to develop treatment methods for patients of the Center for Hematology and Cancer Center
