A PhD dissertation at the College of Medicine, University of Basra, discusses the link between HPV infection and male fertility alteration

A doctoral thesis at the College of Medicine at Basra University discussed the link between infection with HPV and altered male fertility by student Abbas Fadel Ghadban.
The thesis aims to study whether there is a link between infection with HPV and alteration of male fertility. The study found differences of significant statistical value in semen analysis between patients and the control group in indicators (viscosity, liquefaction time, sample size, total number of sperms and concentration. Sperm per milliliter, sperm motility, and live sperm count), while conversely, there were no significant statistically significant differences between the two groups in semen color, acidity, and percentage of normal sperm shape. The study concluded that HPV infection is present among infertile patients in Dhi Qar Governorate and may be considered a risk factor for male infertility.
