The College of Medicine at Basra University held its sixteenth international medical scientific conference with the participation of doctors and researchers from America, Britain, and Lebanon, in addition to researchers from different Iraqi universities. The conference, which was held under the auspices of the Minister of Higher Education and in the presence of the Deputy Technical Director, Dr. Fuad Qasim Muhammad, included seventy-nine scientific papers and six workshops. The first workshop dealt with aesthetics, the second discussed obesity surgery, the third specialized in assisted reproduction, the fourth included joint replacement, the fifth trained doctors to examine echocardiograms, and the sixth specialized in scientific research.
