As part of its policy of creating a clean, healthy environment for students... University of Basrah launches the National Afforestation Day campaign

In conjunction with the Prime Minister’s initiative to plant five million trees and palm trees and in implementation of the plan of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the College of Medicine at the University of Basrah began a National Plantation Day campaign to restore and rehabilitate the college’s gardens, in cooperation with the Tasnim Scouts.  The Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Murtadha Mohammed Saleh Al-Musafer, the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Khattar Musa, and a large number of employees and students of the College participated in the campaign.  Under the supervision of the Agriculture Unit and the Student Activities Unit at the college.

The campaign aims to increase green spaces and provide suitable climates and a suitable environment for students, as a number of spaces were planted with evergreen trees and the gardens were decorated with flowers and trees that are resistant to environmental conditions and high temperatures in the summer. The campaign included planting many seedlings of various types, such as yamas, oleanders, and seasonal roses.

This step comes as an opportunity to create and establish the principles of afforestation and collective work to eliminate desertification and increase the beauty of the college and the city, as well as developing the principles of patriotism and advancement. It is noteworthy that March 12 of each year has been considered a day for national afforestation to encourage people to plant trees and palm trees, take care of them, and protect the cover.  Vegetarian
