The University of Basrah - College of medicine, under the support of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Nawfal Ali Al-Mubarak, held a workshop on "Communication skills as an essential clinical skill under the supervision of Dr. Abdul Salam Saleh Sultan (Communication Skills expert at the Ministry of Health), Prof. Dr. Sawsan Issa Habib and Prof. Dr. Nizar Haddad (College of Medicine members).
The workshop discussed several points, including : Training on conducting and evaluating medical interviews using the Calgary-Cambridge manual (Arabic translation),
and Professionalism in medicine: Foundations, Challenges and Educational Strategies as well as developing skills in getting medical information and providing comprehensive care.
The workshop was very important for the members of University of Basrah - College of Medicine  in developing their skills in teaching and assessing communication skills of College students, as the workshop addressed practical training and application of communication skills using the "Biopsychosocial approach"
