The University of Basrah - College of Medicine hold a memorial ceremony for the death of third-year student.

 

The University of Basrah - College of Medicine held a memorial ceremony on Monday the 21st. of January 2025, for death of third-year student (Muqtada Amer Qasim), who passed away as a result of an unfortunate accident.
The memorial ceremony was attended by the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Nofal Ali Al-Mubarak, a number of college members, and a group of students, in addition to the student family. 
The Ceremony was directed by Assistant Professor Dr. Jalal Abdel Zahra presented the council, and started with readings from the Holy Quran   by Sajid Hamdan, followed by reading of Surah Al-Fatihah by the attendance, and a speech delivered by the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Jassim Muhammad Salman, on behalf of the Dean of the College, in whom he said that "on this sad day, we meet and express our sincere sadness and pain for the loss of our fellow student Muqtada Amer Qasim. His loss is not only a loss of an honorable person, but loss in his humanity and ambition that were an inspiration to us all. He was an example of an ambitious young man seeking knowledge and excellence in his educational career. Muqtada's passing is a reminder to all of us that life is short, and that we always need to strive to achieve our goals".
The student, Kawthar Ahmed Saleh, also gave a speech on behalf of all the students in the third year. she spoke about the noble ethics and lofty morals of Muqtada, and she praised his humanitarian stances. May God Almighty cover him with his vast mercy, and inspire his family and loved ones with patience and solace, and grant him paradise.
