The University of Basrah at the College of Medicine  held a workshop on pollution and its impact on human health. The workshop, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Raja Abdul-Kadhim and Dr. Miad Khalaf Hussein, aimed to understand the relationship between health and the environment, and to explore the nature of environmental pollution, its sources, types, and treatment methods. It also aimed to explore air pollution, its sources, causes, and the diseases it causes. The workshop also discussed methods for preventing air pollution, water pollution, its sources and types, basic standards for water purification, and methods for treating pollution.

The workshop recommended the need to spread environmental and cultural awareness in society to preserve the environment, enact the necessary laws and legislation to reduce pollution, promote a culture of waste recycling, and find appropriate solutions for treating waste before disposing of it in the environment.
