On Sunday 24th. of  October,  the  University of Basrah - College of Medicine, held the first scientific symposium for the department of Internal Medicine for the academic year 2021-2022. It was supported by the President of the University of Basrah; Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and the Dean of the college of Medicine; Prof. Dr. Murtadha Mohammed Saleh Al-Musafer. The symposium was started in the presence of the college members of the department of Internal Medicine and others of the departments in the University of Basrah - College of Medicine, postgraduate students and specialist internal medicine doctors from the Basrah Health Department. The latest developments in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia that cause coronary heart disease and coronary artery disease were discussed, as well as the latest developments in the treatment of acute coronary syndrome, some rare cases of blood and endocrine diseases were presented, and modern methods of rapid diagnosis of the Covid-19 epidemic were also discussed. At the end of the symposium, some important recommendations were made regarding the topics that discussed by the participating college members
