The Dean of the University of Basrah - College of Medicine; Prof. Dr. Murtadha Mohammed Saleh Al-Musafer, attended the scientific symposium that was held in the College of Engineering. The symposium was entitled: Smart Basrah. The symposium included two sessions, during which discussion was done of the presenting working papers and research papers on smart applications for cities in all engineering disciplines. This symposium is considered the beginning of serious work towards smart Basrah, especially with the presence of Smart practical applications in the College of Engineering that used in smart cities. The symposium recommended the necessity of adopting the establishment of an annual conference organized by the University, in which all smart practical applications that are used in smart cities are presented, obligating residential city construction companies to use smart technology for houses, establishing solar tower power plant, using solar energy in distillation operations to obtain clean water for drinking and irrigation purposes.
