The Internal Medicine Department of the College of Medicine, University of Basrah, held the second psychological symposium entitled: Together for Tolerance Against Violence and Extremism, under the patronage of the President of Basrah University, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Mortada Muhammad Salih Al-Musafir. The symposium aims to reduce the phenomenon of violence and extremism in society, which has negatively affected all segments of society, whether those who have been exposed to violence or not are affected by what they hear or watch. There must be concerted efforts from all state institutions, starting with the Ministry of Health and Education, the Ministry of Justice, and the Family Protection Unit, to reduce violence and prevent its negative consequences and effects. Mr. Basem Ghanem, Director of Media and Public Relations in the Basrah Governorate Police, explained that the University of Basrah is one of the most important of these institutions, which must be interconnected with other institutions.
