The College of Medicine organizes a celebration of the 55th anniversary of the founding of the University of Basrah

 

 The College of Medicine, University of Basrah, organized a celebration of the 55th anniversary of the founding of the University of Basrah. The celebration included various activities, including artistic and musical ones. The ceremony was inaugurated by the President of Basrah University, Prof. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, Director General of Basrah Health Department, Dr. Abbas Al-Tamimi, Doctors Syndicate, Dr. Wissam Al-Rudaini, Deputy Commander of Basrah Police Operations, Brigadier Bashir Hussein, Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Mortada Muhammad Salih Al-Musafir, and Administrative Assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Qais Kazem Baqer and the teachers, students and staff reciting the blessed recitation of the Holy Qur’an, reciting Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs of Iraq, and reciting the national anthem. Then the President of the University gave his speech on the anniversary of the founding of the University and the Dean of the College of Medicine also gave a speech in which he glorified the University of Basrah and praised its effective role in community service. Then the distinguished experienced professor, distinguished researcher, distinguished employee, and outstanding student were honored. Distinguished students and winners in chess, table tennis, and suburban jogging were also honored, in which they achieved advanced positions at the university and Iraq levels. After that, ceremonies were held to raise the Iraqi flag. The President of Basrah University inaugurated the book fair in which well-known offices at the governorate level participated, in which valuable cultural and scientific books were presented, in addition to the opening of the activities of the Student Activities Department at the college under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Jalal Abdul-Zahra and Arts Intisar Abdul-Zahra Al-Majid, which has excelled in displaying paintings, photographs, taken by students and staff in the college, free drawing, folk poetry, playing the lute, table tennis and chess. The Medical Museum, which contains a lot of valuable medical equipment, was opened. The ceremony also included a charity bazaar, which was organized by Tasneem Scouts in cooperation with the College of Medicine. It included a variety of activities, including the sale of food, cosmetics, flowers, and accessories, and was well received by the audience. A health team to check the blood type and another to vaccinate students with the viral hepatitis vaccine participated in the ceremony. The ceremony was also attended by the Al Ain Charitable Foundation to sponsor orphans, which was widely attended by teachers and staff for donations. In addition to the afforestation campaign launched by the University of Basrah to plant 100 trees on the university day to maintain the green spaces in the college and to add aesthetics to them.
