Master's thesis in the College of Medicine discusses the effect of methotrexate and etanercept

A master's thesis at the College of Medicine, University of Basrah, discussed the effect of methotrexate, etanercept, and their combination on inflammatory factors in patients with rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis. The research presented by student Saif Ali Jabbar Salman aims to compare the effect of different treatments on inflammatory parameters in patients with rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis. The research concluded that TNFa is closely related to DAS-CRP disease activity score for 28 joints of rheumatoid arthritis patients, and ASDAS disease activity score for patients with ankylosing spondylitis. But its level is significantly higher in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Serum CXCL13 is associated with disease activity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and could be used as a target for the development of new therapies while having a non-major role in patients with spondyloarthritis.
