The department of internal medicine at the college of Medicine, University of Basrah, as part of continuing medical education activities, held an awareness lecture on breast cancer delivered by Dr. Luma Ahmed Abdullah. The lecture dealt with identifying the risk factors for breast cancer that may occur or cause this disease which includes the family and personal history of women to develop breast cancer, and age so that the peak age of incidence is 45-55 years. There are other factors such as radiation exposure, hormone therapy, contraceptive pills, bad eating habits, and smoking. The lecture also dealt with the appropriate symptoms, causes, and treatment for each stage of the disease. Where breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women in the world
