The students of the college of Medicine won the second and third place in  the free poetry competition of the University of Basra where the student in the third stage Abbas Karim Khaled won the second place and the student in the second stage Ghufran Naji Abdel Redha won third place. The students of the college were supervised by Professor Dr. Qusay Mohammed Hussein and assistant Professor Jalal Abdul-Zahra Kanaan and Arts Coach Intisar Abdul Majeed Jaafar Al-Radi
