A master's thesis in the College of Medicine of Basra University discussed the reliability of methods for measuring the volumes of pituitary tumors by student Ibrahim Hani Hussein.
The thesis aims to evaluate the reliability of the ellipsoid method compared to the surrounding method for measuring the size of pituitary tumors and the relationship between size reduction of adenomas and biochemical control. The thesis concluded that there was no significant difference in the use of either the elliptical or peripheral methods, and there was no correlation between the reduction of the size of the adenoma and the degree of biochemical response in the working adenomas.
The thesis recommended that the size of pituitary tumors be measured before and after treatment to monitor treatment results for the purpose of evaluating them, and that both methods are identical and there is no difference between them.
