The Surgery department at the college of Medicine,  University of Basrah held an emergency medicine course for students of the sixth stage in order to develop the skills of students and prepare them to be trustworthy doctors capable of carrying out their tasks and therapeutic duties and saving patients better and to the fullest.

The course in which Dr. Rafid Abdul Jabbar lectured included two theoretical lectures daily for two hours, as well as practical training in the clinical skills laboratory for two and a half hours.

During which students received training to conduct an initial assessment of the diagnosis and treatment of trauma patients such as head and chest injuries, spinal, abdominal and pelvic injuries, as well as limb injuries. At the end of the course, students' opinion was surveyed about the scientific content, practical training and the performance of the trainers.
