In the Basrah University - College of Medicine, a master's thesis  discussed the effect of the plasma level of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor type A (VEGFA) and its genetic polymorphism in children with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) in Basrah. The thesis presented by the student Zainab Abdul Zahra Badr, aims to detect the plasma level of the VEGFA in children suffering from ALL in the oncology unit at Basrah Pediatrics Hospital and to investigate the frequency of genetic polymorphism and its effect on the plasma level of the VEGFA. The thesis concluded that the high level of VEGFA in children with ALL may play an important role in the pathogenesis of cancer. In addition, the genetic polymorphism may play a vital role in the prognosis of malignant diseases.
