Board thesis at the Basrah University - College of Medicine discussed self-implantation in treating recalcitrant flat, common and periungual warts. The thesis presented by student Ahmed Hussein Burhan aims to evaluate the clinical implications of a single procedure of self-implantation of a wart in the patient's subcutaneous tissue, for the treatment of patients with these warts. The thesis concluded that this procedure takes the advantage of the human immunity to eliminate infectious agents by exposing the antigens hidden in the layer of the stratum corneum of the skin. The results were similar and even better than traditional destructive methods with the advantage of avoiding the pain and scars and obtaining long-lasting immunity.
