A master’s thesis at the University of Basrah - College of Medicine discussed the effect of Nigella sativa (black seed) and vitamin E and their combination on the hepatotoxicity caused by metoprolol in rabbits.  The  thesis presented by the student  Fatima  Ali  Hussein, concluded that treatment using nigella oil, vitamin E and (nigella cumin oil + vitamin E) significantly modified the rise of liver enzymes. While metoprolol and other treatments had little effect on IL-6 or IL-10.
