A research team at the College of Medicine, University of Basrah publishes research in an international journal on peripheral neuropathy in neurophysiology.

A research team at the College of Medicine, University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Basrah Health Department, was able to publish a medical research in neurophysiology on inflammatory peripheral neuropathy after infection with the Covid-19 virus, entitled: Neuroographic Evidence of Inflammatory Polyneuropathies in Peri-COVID-19 Circumstances and Their Relationship With Acute Disease Severity and Inflammatory Storm This disease is considered a rare disease, but there has been a noticeable increase in infection in the post-Corona period, which requires early diagnosis of this disease for the purpose of obtaining optimal treatment and avoiding serious complications, as the patient suffers from difficulty walking and muscle weakness with Pain in the nerves and it is diagnosed clinically and by examining the neuromuscular mapping. The research concluded that there is an increase in the rate of its occurrence in patients infected with corona up to six times compared to patients not previously infected with the virus. Adel Yaqoub (work supervisor) and graduate student Dr. Hassan Alaa Farid and Dr. Lana Ahmed Kazem from the Basrah Health Department. The research has been published in the Cureus journal of medical science, which is classified within the Clarivate International Repository, and the research will also be included in the American PubMed Foundation for Medical Research. It is noteworthy that this research is part of a research project of master's student Naren Haykaz Hasrett's physiology on neurophysiological changes in patients recovering from Corona virus. The research plan was previously published in one of the international Scopus magazines. The research was previously presented at the Graduate Studies Conference for Medical Faculties held at the Faculty of Medicine, and it won first place.
