The University of Basrah won the eighth place out of 28 universities in the Qur'aniya competition in the holy Karbala to memorise the entire Book of Qur’an The team consisted from a memoriser, interpreter and reader of the Holy Quran. Where the student from  the college of Medicine Mohammed Hijaz Mohsen participated and won the eighth place and was honoured by Al-Ghari Foundation for Islamic Knowledge / South Branch, and Ansar Al-Wili gathering for his tireless efforts in developing the Islamic cultural project and its scientific role at the university and his sponsorship of the development cultural activities of religious institutions, wishing him more success .
