A doctoral thesis at the College of Medicine at Basra University discussed the prevalence of toxoplasmosis among asthma and epilepsy patients in Basra. The thesis submitted by the student Ban Anas Sabbar aims to study the seroprevalence of toxocariasis in patients with asthma and epilepsy in the city of Basra by identifying the immunoglobulin type C antigens for the sex toxins in the serum of patients and healthy people, as well as identifying the epidemiological risk factors that increase the risk of spreading the infection.
The thesis concluded that toxicity increases the risk of developing asthma and epilepsy, and that epidemiological factors such as nails biting, sucking fingers, eating dirt, taking medicines, and genetic factors increase the risk of developing toxicity, and that toxicity has a role in influencing the concentrations of the enzymes catalase and alkaline phosphatase in asthma patients.
