The preparatory procedures have begun to start “Basrah Smile” initiative for treatment of children with cleft lip (free of charge), and receiving patients from poor families, who were identified and communicated with them , with completing their medical and legal procedures in preparation for conducting surgical operations for them by the specialized plastic surgical team..This initiative was started by the Iraqi Organization for Medical Research and Studies with the participation of the Iraqi Medical Association / Basrah department and the University of Basrah to support poor families in Basrah under these difficult circumstances.
