Researchers at the College of Medicine of Basra University and the Basra Health Department publish a paper in an international journal on the treatment of Covid-19 disease.

 

 

 

 

 

 Researchers at the College of Medicine, University of Basra, in cooperation with researchers from the Basra Health Department and the Kidney and Hypertension Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, published a paper on a new method for treating the emerging corona disease entitled (Using negative immunotherapy (plasma) to treat the emerging corona virus in the city of (Basra - Iraq) ) In the International Irid Journal of Science and Technology.

The research team included the President of Basra University, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, Dr. Ali Rahim Hashem, Dr. Rafid Adel Abboud, Dr. Hassanein Muhammad Ali, Dr. Ali Salem Abdullah, Dr. Ali Radi Kazem, Dr. Amjad Mayeh Rodin, Dr. Heba Jabbar Ashour, Dr. Shawqi Abdel Sada Aziz and Dr. Basem Abdul Karim Abdul Hassan, in addition to Dr. Mustafa Salem Abdullah, from the Kidney and Hypertension Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Where the researchers used convalescent plasma from people recovering from Corona disease as a treatment for this disease, as the recovery plasma was obtained from a single donor by an innovative donation method that was able to safely provide enough plasma for ten patients, which was subsequently given to four critically ill patients. The researchers found a significant improvement in the patients ’condition within 12 to 72 hours of administering convalescent plasma. The research concluded that this method can make a big difference in treating the fast-spreading Corona disease. According to the researchers' information, their research is the first to report using this new method for donating convalescent plasma.
