Board research at Basra University College of Medicine discussed the relationship between obesity and parathyroid function. The research presented by student Muhammad Khazal Jumaa aims to find out whether there is an independent relationship between obesity and parathyroid hormone. The study found that obesity was associated with elevated serum parathyroid hormone levels and vitamin D deficiency. The research was supervised by Professor Dr. Abbas Ali Mansour and the specialist doctor Dr. Ali Hussein Ali, and the discussion committee was formed, headed by Assistant Professor Dr. Safaa al-Din Ahmad Hajim, as Chair, and the membership of the Consultant Doctor, Dr. Mortada Allawi, and the Consultant Doctor, Dr. Khaled Abdel-Abbas Musabbah.
