‏a research team from the university of basrah, led by the president of the university of basrah, prof. Dr. Saad shaheen hammadi, the dean of the college of medicine, prof. Dr. Murtadha mohammed saleh al-musafer, the dean of the college of pharmacy, prof. Dr. Falah hassan shri, prof. Dr. Ihsan alsaimary and a number of teachers from the microbiology department of the colleges of medicine and pharmacy received a patent entitled: development and design of a new iraqi and global culture medium in the name basrayatha vtm used to incubate samples from a patient with covid-19 and other viruses for the purpose of transporting and diagnosing them using globally approved molecular methods. The medium can be used in the preservation and transportation of viruses with nucleic acid rna, dna. The medium contains in its composition the nutrient broth and bovine albumin serum, in addition to containing a group of salts in special concentrations commensurate with the need of corona virus and the infected cell for life and survival. The new carrier medium basrayatha vtm can be used as an alternative to other global medium known to preserve the vibitality of the infected cell, corona and other viruses and provides climate ingredients appropriate for their survivival. The basrayatha vtm medium the new medium is also considered unsuitable for the living and development of bacteria and fungi as it contains antibiotics against bacteria and anti fungal agents that’s newly used in this type of medium. The new medium basrayatha vtm is characterized by its violet color resulting from the addition of the violet crystal pigment, which is considered as a chemical guide to the change of acidity. It maintains the violet color in the acidic environment considered for the new medium, and lose the color of its olet and chang to yellow or lose it’s colour completely if the suitable acidity decreases the new medium is also used to transport rna, dna viruses.
